The 18-hole “Hickory Hill” course at the Hickory Hill Golf Course facility in Warwick, New York features 6,797 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course opened in 1993 and is the second course Hal Purdy has designed for Orange County. This is a muni course run by Orange County and the conditions will be determined by the modest fees it charges its residents.

Located in Monroe, Orange County, New York Mansion Ridge designed by legendary golfer and world-renowned golf course architect Jack Nicklaus opened in 1999 to much fanfare. It is a Championship par 72 golf course measuring 6,889 yards from the back tees. It is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course open to the public in New York State. The course features stunning rock formations, extreme elevation changes, and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Designed to test shot-making skills, this layout will challenge you to negotiate a variety of wetland areas, bunkers, and of course, all the subtle features you would expect from Jack Nicklaus. The course is managed by American Golf and has a practice facility for your use, fully stocked Pro Shop and a restaurant to relax in after your round.

Osiris Country Club, an 18-hole championship golf course is owned by and operated for its members. The club is now open for the first time in 50 years to the public on a limited basis. The course is a well manicured, challenging yet playable course for everyone. It is a picturesque course with a magnificent view of the Shawangunk Ridge. The front nine opening in 1927 is relatively short with fairly flat greens push up greens. This Hal Purdy design public golf course opened in 1967 and is owned and operated by Orange County. It is in located in Montgomery, Orange County, NY. The outstanding design has 7 holes with water, elevations, large rolling greens and multiple teeing areas. The course has spacious fairways and is extremely playable. However conditioning is in line with a muni course that charges its residents a modest fee to play. Great layout, can be fun to play just don’t expect the conditioning to be exceptional. The course has a snack bar, driving range and Pro Shop. Play it once because it is a very good layout.

The Wallkill Golf Club owned and operated by the Town of Wallkill is a muni golf course built in 1991 by landscape architect Steve Esposito. The course is located in Wallkill, Orange County, New York. This New England-style course was designed through lagoons and around rolling terrain which meanders through heavily wooded areas lined with hemlock, oak and shagbark hickory. Each hole provides a feeling of total isolation. The course has hosted several Metropolitan Golf Association Qualifying events and the Orange County Amateur. The course has a fully stocked Pro Shop, practice facility and restaurant.

Located in West Point home of the US Military Academy is a Robert Trent Jones design which opened in 1948 and was redesigned in the early 1990’s by Mr. Jones. The course has a Pro Shop, practice facility and restaurant. There a several elevation changes with uphill and downhill tee shots and shots to the green which makes the course seem longer than the 6,007 yards par 70 the card says it is. There are a lot of areas that are red staked for parallel water hazards on this course. Only down side is the course can be difficult to walk.
